Baking Tips for The Juiciest Dry Rub Baked Chicken

The secrete. is oven temperature and time. When we roast chicken at a relatively lower oven temperature the result is simply ultra tender and juicy chicken meat. We start the roasting process at a higher temperature (450 degrees) for 20 minutes just to help with browning. Then lower temperature to (325 degrees) for the remaining time.

Instructions for Dry Rub Baked Chicken

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F to ensure it’s ready for the chicken.

Prepare the Chicken: Rinse the chicken under cold water, drain and pat dry with paper towels. This helps the dry rub adhere well to the chicken.

Apply the Dry Rub: Generously rub the homemade dry rub onto the skin and meat of the chicken. Coat evenly for maximum flavor.

Bake in the Oven: Transfer the seasoned chicken drumsticks to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes: Lower the temperature to 325°F

Turn and Continue Baking: Now it’s time to turn the chicken (drumsticks) to the other side using tongs. Bake for an additional 25 minutes to ensure even cooking.

Optional BBQ Sauce: After a total of 45 minutes of cook time, brush the BBQ sauce on both sides of the chicken (drumsticks). Return them to the oven for the last 15 minutes of cook time. This BBQ sauce is optional but adds a delightful glaze and extra flavor.

Serve and Enjoy: Once the chicken is cooked to perfection, remove it from the oven. Serve the drumsticks with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
